Our mission is to prepare students to be impactful leaders in healthcare, by providing a person-centered, evidence-based, experiential, and community-focused healthcare management educational experience.

Our vision is to be the program of choice for aspiring healthcare leaders and to be known for being an active learning community that continuously strives towards the ideal of better healthcare and improved health for all.

The EIGHT core values of our MHA Program are:

Person-Centeredness: As a value, this applies both to education and to healthcare leadership. As an academic program, we focus on the interests, needs, and preferences of our students who receive instruction. Likewise, we strive to prepare our students to be person-centered healthcare leaders who seek to understand the needs, values, and preferences of the people they serve from a holistic perspective and empower them to make decisions about their care.

Competency-Based Education: We strive to provide an educational curriculum that is designed to develop student proficiency in the competencies necessary for success in health care administration.

Community-Based Experiential Learning: We also recognize that students learn better through student-centered rather than instructor-centered experiences by doing, discovering, reflecting, and applying. Our program will strive to promote these types of experiential learning experiences to help students develop communication skills and self-confidence and gain and strengthen decision-making skills by responding to and solving real world problems and processes.

Integrity: We advocate and emulate high ethical conduct in all we do and provide a learning environment that strives to instill this value in our students.

Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging: We advocate for inclusivity and celebrate and embrace the differences of those with whom we work, and the students we serve. We strive to nurture a sense of belonging among our students because we believe that belonging epitomizes the values of diversity, equity, and inclusion. While inclusion can ensure a seat at the table, belonging refers to a sense of acceptance, respect, and support such that students feel like they are valued members of the community and can strive towards attaining their fullest potential in their learning environment.

Leadership Development: We lead our classes through example and mentorship, and prepare our students not just for practice, but to be leaders within the organization and the broader profession of healthcare.

Evidence-Based Continuous Quality Improvement: We value continuing quality improvement in our curriculum, our pedagogy, our services, and our outcomes, in response to evidence of student proficiency, evidence of alumni success in their careers, and the advice of the stakeholders and communities we serve.

Lifelong Learning: We recognize that lifelong learning is essential to our ability to innovate and continually improve ourselves, our organizations, and our profession.

Graduates of the MHA program have a proven track record of creating successful careers in healthcare. Some decide to immediately enter the workforce while others pursue administrative fellowship programs or doctoral programs in public health, business, or healthcare management.

One of the hallmarks of attending a CAHME-accredited Program is that you can be assured that you will develop your knowledge and skills in the field of healthcare management. In our program, every course is aligned with one major competency for healthcare leaders. That competency is assessed through a wide range of experiences, projects and real-world simulations that test and hone your skills.

Our competency model makes it clear and simple how your 11 required courses correspond to the key knowledge and skills you will gain in this program. After completing this program, you will be prepared to tell potential employers about the specific areas in which you have trained.

Curriculum Map for MHA Program

The MHA Program reviews applications holistically taking into account a wide range of factors including previous GPA, work experience, statement of purpose, and letters of recommendation. Most students who matriculate to the MHA Program have undergraduate GPAs of 3.3 or higher and average 2+ years of work experience.

Admissions Criteria and Application Materials

No GRE or GMAT score is required to apply to the MHA Program.

• 3.0 undergraduate GPA or higher from an accredited institution of higher learning
• 250-word statement of purpose
• 2 letters of recommendation (professional or academic references only)
• Current resume or CV
• Current TOEFL or other language exam score (if non-native English speaker)

Typically students who apply and are admitted to the MHA program have an undergraduate GPA of 3.3 or higher.
